The authors of the seventh edition of the Global Environment Outlook will meet in Nairobi, Kenya from 2-6 September 2024 for the following:
- Continue the drafting of the chapters and Summary for Policy Makers to achieve a Second Order Draft (SOD) quality of the chapters and first order draft quality for the Summary for Policy makers for intergovernmental and expert peer-review, by:
- Finalizing the drafting of text for the 21 chapters;
- Finalizing the drafting of text for the Summary for Policy Makers;
- Ensuring appropriate charts, graphs, maps and infographics are included
- Improving the coherence of text in the chapters and Summary for Policy Makers;
- Reducing overlap and duplication in the content;
- Addressing any gaps that have been identified;
- Ensuring that the chapter meets the word count limits
- Finalizing the Executive Summary of each chapter;
- Incorporating Indigenous Knowledge and Local Knowledge across the chapters;
- Ensuring that climate change adaptation and behavioural, science and cultural elements are included in the SOD, following the guidance from the task groups;
- Enabling cross-chapters discussions aimed at developing further interlinkages, adding cross-references and achieving coherence.
- Raising awareness about GEO-7 through a science-policy dialogue on Solutions to Transforming the current Food System – including global and regional discussions.
