This booklet is a short presentation of the UN Environment Programme – who we are, what we do, why we do it and how we do it.
Since 1972, UN Environment Programme has served as a powerful advocate for the environment. Our ambition is to inform, enable and inspire nations and peoples to improve their quality of life – without compromising that of future generations. We work under the umbrella of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, identifying and addressing the most relevant environmental issues of our time.
This publication illustrates the work we do by providing some examples of the vast areas that our work covers, and what we have achieved together with partners.
Our work is made possible by partners who fund and champion our mission. This publication makes the case for the importance of flexible core financial resources; how they are the bedrock of our work and enable us to invest in essential capacity and expertise to deliver the work that our 193 Member States mandate us to do.
