This event is taking place as part of the 15th Community-based Adaptation Conference. This peer-to-peer session will focus on elucidating the main challenges to EbA implementation, scale-up and financing in Africa, and further discuss catalytic approaches and methods to overcome them.
Addressing the key barriers to the uptake of Ecosystem-Based Adaptation (EbA) and building resilience, especially at the community level, will require innovative and novel approaches to upscaling and financing. In that light, the session aims to bring together regional, traditional, and non-traditional networks and stakeholders — with a focus on community-based organizations — to present innovative financing solutions, identify new ones, and gather innovative and catalytic examples and lessons learned.
The discussion will be framed around the role of innovation and innovative financing solutions, including the new Global EbA Fund, launched on March 25. Practical examples will be highlighted, and a space created for critical discussions around what it means to bring innovative EbA financing solutions to fruition at the community level.
